New Zealand Music Month day #8 is from Auckland duo imugi 이무기 and a track called “Fade Away” which opens their 2017 “Vacasian” EP:
Imugi 이무기 craft their own style of reflective electronic “bedroom disco” pop with words and vocals from Yery Cho and music production by Carl Ruwhiu. The duo met at school and since this 2017 EP have played at the Auckland Laneway festival and released new music this year (not on Bandcamp… yet).
“Fade Away” is an existential reflection on identity and cultural dislocation which starts with a trippy spoken word section spinning off in all directions with effects, before drifting into a heavy electronic smooth soul tune with a load of futuristic ambient atmosphere.
