Terror of the Deep

Day 7 of the May month of NZ music madness/ goodness comes from Wellington three-piece Terror of the Deep.

‘Fallen Down Tree’ is from their 2012 ‘Death of the Gideon’ EP. But it’s also their current release as it has just come out on vinyl and is available in limited numbers at some stores in NZ (ie Portil in Dunedin, Slowboat in Wellington & Galaxy in Christchurch).

There’s a familiar ramshackle urgent charm to some of the songs here that brings to mind The Feelies and The Bats at times, but also their more contemporary trans-Tasman compatriots like Woollen Kits. Its not all jangle & strum though – check out the track ‘Model Train Village’ too for another darker, weirder, psychedelic side of Terror of the Deep.

Not sure if you can order online, so if your local store doesn’t have it contact the band through their Bandcamp page & find out.

Terror of the Deep play with The Bats at Puppies in Wellington on Friday 23rd May.
